Police report: Man charged in mutilation death
Memphis Police charged a 23-year-old man Sunday in the Feb. 24 killing and mutilation of a 59-year-old man.
Jeremy Black was charged with first-degree murder in the death of Ivory Black inside the victim's home at 5579 Santa Cove in Whitehaven.
The suspect lives at that address and has the same last name as the victim, but police could not confirm the two were related.
The victim had been shot and stabbed numerous times and his leg amputated at the knee, according to the charges.
Black's sister, Jerika, told police she came home Thursday to find her father dead and his 2000 Cadillac Deville missing.
She went to a neighbor's house to call police, then received a call from Jeremy Black asking her where she was.
The suspect later allegedly went to the home of a relative and told him, "I did it. It was for my mother and my sister,'' the charges state.
Jeremy Black was arrested early Friday on Pratt, still driving the 2000 Cadillac.
He was being held on a $300,000 bond.
