Jacqueline, It's rare that our best efforts are not enough. Last week I asked to you to dig into your pocketbooks and give what you could to help our sisters and brothers recovering from the tornadoes in Alabama. As always, you came through -- and gave thousands of dollars. But this week we all were shocked when deadly tornadoes struck southern Missouri as well -- leaving even more members of our community displaced and in need. The destruction is so extensive that we have no choice but to redouble our efforts. Since the tornadoes hit, members of the NAACP have been on the ground volunteering their time and money to support those who were affected. Can you help their effort by donating today? http://action.naacp.org/page/m/474a374b/7994f176/7f327508/2f61513a/2740843296/VEsE/ In the past decade, we have witnessed a series of natural disasters wreak havoc across the country. And in the past week, we have watched in horror as news broadcasts showed images of unthinkable devastation -- homes, neighborhoods and even whole towns reduced to rubble. Let us vow that these images won't desensitize us to such tragedy; it is very real, and its impact will continue to be felt for years to come. We know that our sisters and brothers in Missouri and Alabama are holding strong and keeping their heads up while they rebuild their lives. But they could use a helping hand from those of us who have a little something to spare. Make a contribution today, and help improve the lives of those in need in Alabama and Missouri: http://action.naacp.org/page/m/474a374b/7994f176/7f327508/2f61513a/2740843296/VEsF/ In the face of these tragedies, we must be stronger and more dedicated than ever before. Thank you for your support, Ben Benjamin Todd Jealous President and CEO NAACP |
